Moving Abroad

Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

Have you ever been at a point in your life where you just wanted change? Your life is on routine and repeat. (#BORING) Same thing with the same people. If you leave the country and come back, the same people would be doing the exact same routine and talking the exact same thing.

I’m at the point in my life where I’m over it. I’m ready for change.

I never ever thought in a million years I would consider moving abroad. I actually remember telling a friend of mine, “I love my country I’m never leaving.” I mean why would I, America is considered the best country in the world. Can you believe 64%of Americans has never left the country. Read here

After all, America has a stable government, great economy, amazing infrastructure, affordable health care, and our educational system is great. America is the land of the free, home of the brave, lots of opportunity, unlimited freedom to do whatever we want, and most importantly liberty and justice for all.

However, we are missing what’s important and for me that’s black culture. Culture which is free and should be valued and appreciated. I challenge you to google black culture in America and you would be surprised.

Now, that the internet has made the world a smaller place and I thank God for that. I have a change of heart. (This is my never say never moment) I am actually considering moving abroad. I have done lots and lots of research. Every country is not how the media has portrayed it. Nor, is it what I learned in my history class in school about other countries.

That’s why it’s always crucial to seek your own knowledge and understanding. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is key to your life and growth. Who wants to remain like a stunted tree stub. (Really) A stunted tree stub is something that never grows or change.

Always seek your own knowledge, as no one can tell you or give you advice on a place they never been. They only thing they can say is “I heard” or “I saw on tv”. You know the unsolicited advice (see prior post)

Honestly, living abroad doesn’t scare me. How can you become well rounded if you don’t travel and experience new things. Also, life is to short to be on repeat. Learning new culture and a new way of life would be interesting.

Sometimes we outgrow people, places, and things. And there is nothing wrong with starting a new!!

I lived in Colombia for 6 weeks and travelled to different places. I would definitely live outside of the United Kingdom. That’s one of my ultimate goals. You should definitely go for it, there’s so much culture to experience across the world 🙂

We’re considering a move to Europe and researching the best place for us to move to from the U.S. We just returned from 3 weeks in southern France and Spain, what an epic trip. It’s reignited our fire to live abroad, so now we are gonna make it happen!
