Travel to Virginia

Virginia is for Lovers is the travel slogan of the commonwealth of Virginia.

To many people Virginia is known for its rich history and attracts history buffs from all around the world but for me it’s HOME.

Virginia is well known for its connections with the civil war and the confederacy. However, there is more to Virginia than the controversial monuments.

Richmond, Virginia is the capital city, (where I was born and raised). The capital city is growing at an amazing pace. Richmond is not New York City large but it’s not Brentwood, Tennessee small. Richmond offers a lot of things to do, trendy upscale restaurants, breweries, unique boutiques, concerts, and one of a kind festivals.

With its central location, you are centrally located to Northern Virginia, Washington DC, the mountains, and many amazing beaches which are two to three hours away.

VIrginia Museum of Fine Arts

My favorite pass time is to visit museums. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is the top thing to do if you are in the city of Richmond. It offers over 5000 years of art from around the world. General admission is free, however there is a small fee for special exhibits. The museum is also open 365 days a year.

I love this piece because it a modern and abstract and it matched my outfit.

Restaurants

There are many restaurants, not matter budget from the low end to the high end of things Richmond has something for you. One of my favorite restaurants, a friend and I went to is lunch or supper. (I am not a foodie so you will never see a plate) LUNCH.SUPPER! is a place where you can come as you are. The food is good and the price is fair. The food and the people are amazing, even when a complete stranger photo bomb your picture.

When you are in town make sure you visit Charm School Social Club. Charm School is located in downtown Richmond. It is modern contemporary, green-&-white parlor that serve coffee, tea and my favorite vegan ice cream. Plus the cost is very affordable.

A few blocks down the street from Charm School, you will find the Quirk hotel. The Quirk Hotel is stylish and sophisticated hotel that has an amazing restaurant, really cute boutique for purchases, and an amazing rooftop club.

The Street Art

The street art in Richmond is one of a kind, and honestly my favorite. The art always have a hidden message. Many times I have gotten out of my car because I want to take a picture of the street art.

The Beaches

Of course my favorite thing to do is visit the beach, I have visited every beach in Virginia. Virginia Beach, Buckroe Beach, Yorktown Beach, Colonial Beach, and of course my favorite private beach.

I hope that you enjoyed a little taste of what my hometown has to offer, you will love it as it’s centrally located and you will enjoy all of the the small city charm with a big heart.
