To Blog or Not To Blog

Decisions! Decisions! Decisions!

I can’t believe the blog is almost 1 years old. I also can’t believe I’m questioning if I want to continue with the blog. The blog started as just something to do. Which something to do then in turn became something I truly enjoyed.

Blogging takes a lot of time, research, thought, and a true desire to write in a saturated community of the best writers. For me, I also have to be able to be vulnerable and to expose my real life stories to encourage and inspire others.

I have no niche such as travel, food, or fashion. My niche is living and sharing real life experiences.

When I first started to blog, I had no idea about domains, self hosting, google analytics, blog stats, bounce rates, ads, and of course how to make a profit. When I first started blogging, I just googled “how to start a blog” and WordPress appeared, not realizing it’s a and

I have truly learned a lot about the blogging industry within the last year. And with all of that knowledge decisions must be made.

To blog or not to blog?

Initially I posted daily, then I posted three to four times a week, because I wanted quality content verses quantity. Then, I posted monthly, or whenever life happened.

I lost consistency, and some passion along the way.

My initial goal was to inspire 1 person, which I have achieved. Many supporters of the blog say I have inspired and encouraged them. To know that I have touched at least one soul brings me so much joy.

Not only that, I have met some really great bloggers in the community. I have enjoyed reading their blogs and learning from them. However, again all of that takes time, and when I don’t have time to read I feel bad.

Supporting fellow bloggers, is as important to me as blogging.

I have received several awards, which I love. I look at those as life accomplishments, because I have been recognized by my peers.

So much to consider!

Fellow bloggers, I have a few questions?

What’s keeps you motivated to blog?

How long have you been blogging?

What encouraging words do you have for the community?

Most importantly, Why do you blog?

At this point, my blogging has just become a part of my daily routine. It’s a wonderful community to be a part of it, offering the opportunity to meet people like you and share our thoughts. It does take time, between both the writing and the reading, but it’s time that I enjoy. Like you, I have no niche, which is both good and bad. It allows me to write on anything I feel like, but it doesn’t have the focus that most blogs have.

Keep blogging, LaShawn!!! Don’t give up, because your posts are reaching people. I will say that I researched between the .org and .com versions of WordPress last year when I was deciding on purchasing a plan and I ultimately decided that the .com version was better for me. The self hosted version just came with too many responsibilities, not to mention it costs a lot and you lose some perks you get with the .com version. Also, just blog about what you’re interested in and what matters to you. The right people will come along and I always try to remind myself of that. It’s about connecting with the right people. But, patience is key. And it takes a bit of work maneuvering around blog world and growing your audience, but once you get comfortable and learn the ropes you’ll be glad that you kept blogging. 🙂 Hope you’ve been well!!
