Happy 1st Blogiversary

Just know that everyone’s writing is terrible until it’s not. No one stuff is right immediately. You gotta work it. Refine it. Shape it. Spend time with it. It’s a relationship between you and what comes from you.

Ava Duvernay

I launched this blog 1 year ago today, and the quote above stated by one of my favorite film directors articulated exactly how I feel. When I first started blogging, I had no idea what to expect. I just love to write. My writing is a relationship, the more I work on it the more it improves. Consistency is key.

I have learned so much and I have met so many great people. Each blogger have their own unique style, which I love. I love the diversity in writing because you learn so much. Writing is one of the most beautiful calming things that anyone can enjoy. Whenever you write, life comes together.

So let’s go over this years journey! I will take you through the accomplishments my highs and my lows. Drumroll Please

The Beautiful Struggle has:

  • I have written 135 blog posts.
  • Which generated a total of 808 comments.
  • The blog had 7,664 views in 2019.
  • 2,212 views as of today’s date for 2020.
  • Someone has googled the blog or a topic related to the blog 618 times.
  • People in over 74 countries have visited the blog. ( if your reading please subscribe)
  • My most liked post is “Moving Abroad”
  • My most viewed post is “Self Preservation”.
  • My favorite post is “44 Things I know for sure” because it’s how I view life.

I am very proud of these accomplishments because my goal was to inspire at least one person, very small goal but honestly I had no expectations.

So with all the good comes the bad! It’s not many but it was some that I needed to share. Have you ever wrote a post and you were so proud of it, but your readers wasn’t. One of my worst post was stating my political position watching the debate. No one likes politics, I will never, ever write about politics again. It was so bad I deleted the post. I could just feel it, political views should be private.. just my thoughts.

My next low is not being consistent, I believe when the coronavirus started, it just stopped everything. So my mind stopped and I couldn’t find nothing to write about, I was trying to be positive when I wasn’t, I was scared. Who wants to hear about travels when you can’t travel, I attempted to be optimistic but it was truly a struggle.

Lastly, I want to send a special thanks to my husband Uchenna for encouraging to start the blog, you are my soul mate. You saw the best in me when I didn’t see it in myself. I also want to thank all of my friends in the blogging community Bukola, Brandi, Arnetta, Shugunna, and Jim. I have learned so much from each of you and you inspire me to be a better blogger.

Bukola you continue to motivate me to go further with my blog and step outside of my comfort zone. My Nigerian sister. Read her blog HERE

congratulations on your one-year anniversary, LaShawn! What a wonderful accomplishment and you have built such a nice community.

Thank you for the shout-out. Like you, I enjoy writing and meeting people that I would have never had the chance to meet otherwise. As you noted, it’s just become a part of me, so I manage to find time for my blogging, which is probably two-three hours a day between writing, reading, and commenting. And I have learned much from you, such as being willing to be more open, keeping a positive attitude, and enjoying life.

    Have a great day!
